Default Boody hell

I can't hit a single thing with this sim!

I've listened and re-listened to the video tutorial on how to track and fire using sonar and I still can't hit anything...and I have some visual aids on (updating map icons!)

Mmmm...me getting frustrated now. I need a kill - and quick!

Things just seem to be happening too quick.

what year are you in? i also had that trouble because the early torps would run too deep because i guess the warhead weighed it down. mine would go right under the ship and i didnt realize it until i put the external camera on one time to see what was goin on. ever since then, ive started in 43' and the torps all seem to run fine

if thats not the case, then i have no idea, although it also may be ur speed calculation. what calc. do you use for the speed?

Is your game patched up?

Year is 1941

Game is patched and a couple of mods (radar mod and radio contacts mod - thank you).

It's not to do with torpedos running to low....I'm just not entirely sure how to go about getting the required data.

I think I need to start a beginner mission and go from there....maybe trying to run before I could walk...but I was just trying to get into the level I wanted to play at...which was not novice (although I am).

One point to ask...is there no way to customise level in Campaign mode? I know you can in mission mode..so I was a bit surprised to see 4 levels of difficulty when starting a career...for example, I'd like to run on the toughest settings (although that may not be appropriate now!) but still have external view...just because it's nice....not really for situational awareness.

Anyway...I will start a career in novice mode and see where that takes me....like I say, I need to get some kills otherwise I'm in danger of thinking the game is not "approchable" and therefore shelve it...and that would be a shame being as it's only been on my hard drive a day.

Bear with me peeps....just sounding off.

You can customise the difficulty level in the Campaign mode by clicking on the radio when you are back at base, clicking on Gameplay settings and changing it as you please. Enjoy your new difficulty

Judge, historically - sonar approaches were used at the outset of the war and were found to be ineffective. I am not sure, but I don't think any enemy vessels were sunk using sonar only attacks until the homing torpedo arrived. Hits using that method were a rarity. The end result was that it was "endorsed" out as a tactic very rapidly. Periscope observations are the way to go - or just launch a large spread to cover the errors - if your willing to get 1 hit out of 6...

Use the scope! Makes life so much easier! I use the sonar just to track.
