Concise, but accurate.

If you listen to the radio you can hear it slowly cut out as you get deeper.

Nice feature.

Ah ok thanks......jeeze 42 yo and still learning stuff.

I was just askin cause im doin the career mode and for my first mission they sent me to take pictures of what was in tokyo harbor. just to get in I had to run at PD for almost 2 days and all the time I was getting contact reports.

Turned out 2 carriers were anchored in the harbor which i promptly sunk, 3 fish each. gonna be fun gettin out of here!

Read the reast of the thread, at shallow depth you can and could get radio messages oh and it's the same in SH3 as well...less than 25 metres anyway.

Honestly some people's historical knowledge.

Don't know about the specs and capacities of US transmitters and receivers - but depeding on location, temperature and salinity, U-Boats could receive Goliath transmissions (16.55khz, 410kW) up to 26m (85ft) depth.

I dont think Fleet boats made use of VLF as they do now.

Its also possible that your radio man recieved the message some time ago and decided to finish the last chapter of his book before delivering the message

Its amusing we would get a "buggy as hell" snipe on one feature that actually is not bugged :p (credibility -1).

Maybe receiving radio messages while submerged is accurate.

From: War Instructions 1944

Chapter 9: Employment of Submarines
http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/...WarInst-9.html

"Although under certain conditions it can receive radio messages while submerged, this method cannot be relied upon as an effective means of communication."
