Greetings captains,
This adds the ship length and aspect ratio for the major Japanese ships to the ‘in-game’ recognition manual. Also, because not everybody uses ‘aspect ratio’ for manual targeting, there is a second version which just adds the ship length to the manual (no AR). Both versions are uploaded, so take your pick. JSGME ready. In addition to the recognition manual changes, there is an added ‘realism’ benefit (at least, I think so). It always bugged me a little that the name of the ship would magically appear in the position keeper whenever a ship was selected in the manual. Now it doesn’t appear, so it makes accurately identifying a target a more interesting (and crucial) task for the captain. All of the actual data displayed in the manual is from Krupp’s JP Ship Dimension Fix, with the ship length ‘rounded’ to the nearest foot just to make it look better (in my eye). All I did was display the data on the recmanual pages. Even though the new ship dimension data was used, there should be no problem using this with the stock game data (although I have no idea if you’ll get an accurate firing solution). It should also blend in just fine with anybody else’s recmanual mod now available. This little project was a real ‘game files’ education for me. I tried everything I could think of to make the data display look ‘neater’ on the pages, including adding fields to the ship’s cfg files, adding new fields to the ship’s sim files, and adding new items in the menu.ini file. But, after doing all that, the bottom line is that the exact fields displayed in the stock recmanual are hardwired into the main exe file. So, this is as good as I can get it. You can get both versions here (length with and/or without aspect ratio): http://hosted.filefront.com/Brigssubstuff Cheers |
