Default NCP/Sub Command/Flickering?

I upgraded to a new system a couple of months ago. I installed SC/SCXIIc/SCU on it.

Tonight was the first time I went back to try to play some SCX. My screen (entire display whether windowed for full screen) began to flicker from time to time.

A couple of questions:

(1) Is this the XP flickering problem that was previously discussed?

(2) This problem is corrected by the NCP version of Sub Command?

(3) The NCP version of Sub Command is fully compatible with SCXIIc/SCU?

Yes, I know this is the DW forum, but I recall that this was the forum NCP was introduced. I just want to know that buying NCP will fix my problem and that I won't lose the ability to play SCXIIC.

Thanks.

Yes, Sub Command from the NCP is fully compatible with XP and there is no flivkering problem. I also have had no problems with the SCX/SCU mods in this version of Sub Command with the exception of the SCU playable subs not having any crew voice responses. Other than that, pretty much smooth sailing.

I did some preliminary testing with some CPU slowdown software. It appears that it may also remove the flickering. I need to experiment with it a little further if it does, then I guess I prefer that than blowing $20 on a game I already have.

Thanks for responding.

The most interesting about running SC with this slowdown program: Mo'Slo

http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/moslo.asp

Is that I simply needed to load SC with this program, but not actually invoke any slowdown. SC is running, in fact, at 100% on its own dedicated processor. But for whatever reason, this method of loading it has eliminated the flickering.

I think some background programs which live in systray may cause this. Instant messangers for example, mouse drivers extensions etc.
