Default Decks awash?

SH3 1.4b + GWX 1.03

I see that I can ran decks awash. However, will doing this in game terms help reduce my visibility to surface ships? I have a convoy which I have run ahead and am now doubling back on in order to set up the attack.

Thanks.

Yes, it will reduce detectability, in 3 ways:

- reduced visibility of your sub
- reduced visibility of bow-wave
- smaller radar-image...certainly under conditions like your screenshot shows

Fuel-consumption will rise significantly, though.

Running Decks Awash does reduce the enemy's visibility. If you run at high speeds though and you generate large wakes they will see you.

Don't they ever get these things right? Decks awash should only be done on batteries. There shouldn't be any "high speeds".

How do you run with decks awash? I tried setting the depth a little lower and my crew all went below decks.

Set your depth to about 6 or 7 meters and the watch crew should stay on the bridge.

You can sometimes get away with 8 metres

I set for up to 7.8m no more. 8m and most of the time your crew will come below.

I'm not sure if DA works in stock though. (Been so long since I played it)

You need GWX to patrol deck awash.

And it should also be possible to run surfaced on electrics...
