Default "Codified" mods for 1.3? (dev question)

I've read many of the bug/suggestion threads for the game, and many peopel are asking for fixes/improvements that are already mods, or that would be easy mods to create.

If credited in the 1.3 readme, wouldn't it be a good idea to take some mods and incorporate them into the 1.3 patch? The benefit would be that mods that correct stuff might be incompatable with mods that add other features to the same file. It would be nice if the baseline files were as accurate as possible.

Nematode's research on the HP of engines was turned into a mod by Mav87th correcting data that was simply wrong. Seems like just adding this to 1.3 would be instant patch content for the devs.

Another easy one would be aircraft loadouts. I have altered them in my campaign, but have not released them. I can clean them up and release them, but it should really be fixed in the stock game, they are all so grossly wrong.

The ship dimensions mod (krupp, right?) is another obvious choice (or did that get put in 1.2?).

Realistic crew configs (lukeff) is another no-brainer to add to 1.3.

Cox's proper USN hats, yet another.

There are a bunch that should just be added to the actual game.

The Devs are really focussed on the patch right now, so you may have to be patient.

I certainly realize that. I just see elanaiba posting now and again, and thought I'd throw it out there.

The devs could even solicit help. I'm cleaning up my fixes to the aircraft right now, I will happily make it available to them if they'd prefer more realistic loads for the japanese planes.

tater,

that's a damn good suggestion you've got there. they could EASILY turn the 1.3 patch into something even more spectacular than what is currently planned.

Yeah, that was really the point, the mods fix stuff, and it's not worth dev time to reinvent the wheel. Elanaiba has already posted that nematode's research about the engine HP is going to get added.

Some stuff in anything like this is subjective, and that's where mods rule. Other stuff, like the HP figures used for the ships, or the bomb load of a D3A are NOT subjective, they are black and white---the value in game is right, or it's wrong. If that is fixed, why not just dump in the "right" figure if someone has already done the work for you?

In return, you've given the customer an expectation for the patch, and by including extra fixes beyond that expectation, you exceed their expectations, making the shop a hero.

Totally agree 100%, but that would mean bigger size for the patch, and what for the slow connection users?:hmm:

LOL. I doubt it will change the size much compared with 1.1 and 1.2 Dls.

I have got to agree dead on regarding things that are already fixed by the modders. Heck - the HP correction helps alot with convoy AI to start with - although it still needs work. Glad to see thats going to be in there.

If the Devs need data - things like loadouts, etc - just ask. There are plenty of us that are willing to do some legwork to help. We know 1.3 is really going to be the end - so if we can help make it better - we will. That is what this community is about - making things even better.

The AI fixes are the biggest issue - although I do hope that we will get SOME type of hull damage indication added.

I would really encourage the devs to as well. I know a number of modding items went into SHIII patches and subsequently into SHIV development and I wish as many as possible go into patch 1.3.
