Default Where does SH4 rank in the naval sim world as of now?

And btw, what's the best naval sim? I used to play SH2/DC and already then UBi did a bad work on a great game (the multiplayer feature did never work, thx to Neal for joining the good guys back then, if you're still around). Anyway the question is there.
Thx

Great game. What else? Dangerous Waters is also good, is it?

From 1 to 10, and 1 being the best.... I'd rank it at a 6. When SH4 is fixed as it should be I might change my mind.

I have two copies of SH3 ordered from this site for my son and me. They should be here in a couple of days or so. I can't wait because I've heard so many good things about it with the GWX mod that is offered by this community. Harpoon 2 sounds like more of a RTS game. Am I correct?

GWX is for SH3 not SH4. Not sure if there will be one for SH4. You should try the RFB Mod, its a great mod if you like realism.

Harpoon 2 is a rather dated game. It was an adaptation of a table top game of the same name.

Its contemporary equal would be Dangerous Waters.

I have DW and have played it. Ill have to admit though it simply dident have the same appeal as Harpoon 2 did.

To be fair to Sh4, and despite all the problems which hopefully will be fixed soon, I don't think it's fair to rank it yet. Let's give it more time.

Best naval sim? SH3 + GWX. Period.

Best vanilla naval sim? SH3.

Best nuts and bolts naval sim? Dangerous Waters.

SH4 is so much better than SH3 it's not even funny.

Customer's psychological conditioning is a nasty enemy, though, which SH4 team learned the hard way

For me, its number one. It's been the only sim (or game) I've been playing since March. I wouldn't be saying that if it wasn't for the mods and patches.

I really liked Fleet Command.

DW was almost a nice replacement for me but (call me crazy) I woulda preferred more platforms (as in Fleet Command) especially the carriers and other big ships.
As for manning the stations... they coulda left that out for me. I just liked ordering the ships around and watching the action 3rd person. I never got tired of watching the carrier bring planes up from below deck and launching em to strike at inland targets.

I'm not givin up on DW yet though... but sadly I can't seem to locate my disk... there's the manual... what'd I do with the disk? Any of you seen it?

Thx guys. Really. I was hoping SH4 wasnt soo buggy. If it gets fixed with 1.3 to a playable and competitive level, I'll buy it too. As for now SH3 and right now dwing the gw mod.
