Default Armoured Modern Composite Freighters?

Can someone tell me how well protected Modern Composite Freighters were, i have just fired off 3 torps, they hit the stern directly where the propellers are and it seems no damage, no slowing down whatsoever. Surely 3 torps would have at least bent the shafts if not destroying them???

Any ideas?

In my personal experience the damage models are a little off for the stern and bow of the boats... make it a point to hit them in the side or your wasting torps most of the time.

Yes, direct stern or bow shots do not seem to damage at all or very little. Hit closer to the middle.
