The legacy of the U-Boats will live on forever. I don't imagine SH4 surpassing SH3 anytime soon. I just don't like the US Submarines, most of them seem like the same boat to me, then again, I'm not all that much educated about them either, unlike the U-Boats

I would not trade my copy of SHIII for SHIV. Period.

its not that I dont like US Subs... its just that Ubi knew what the majority of players wanted

more compartments
More units
fight enemy subs
more diverse missions

etc etc etc

what they gave us was more or less the complete opposite...

less compartments
same or similar units
no sub v sub action
more diverse missions some of whoch you can never accomplish and the ones that require troop insertions the dingys either flip over and sink or row around in circles for infiniti or you cant find the downed airmen.

im sure that in a year or so SH4 will be awesome NO THANKS TO UBI but only because if the hard work of modders.

I have only been sickeningly dissapointed in video games twice in my life... blazing angels and SH4.

i know there are SH4 die hards out there who oogle over clear water, grass and rocks... but give me a break default SH4 down right stinks, ubi released a product KNOWING that it was unfinished, KNOWING that it stunk, and KNOWING that unpaid modders would not only beta test their product but would make it 100 times better over time.

Agreed, and my many thanks to those modders out there who work so hard and provide so much to our community, it is really appreciated! I haven't the slightest clue about modding, but I'm doing my part for the community by donating to Subsim. A great bunch of Kapitans and Commanders here

Please... the missions work fine if you follow the rules...er well if you figure them out cause the manual is sh#$ As I said, the layout for crew manangement and damage control is far better than Sh3, oh and JScones i don't see much difference in the numbers, and stop with "only Yanks are interested in the Pacific" thing, by that logic no Brits should play Sh3 since you're sinking your own ships.

That said Sh3 still rules , hope to finish my patrol today...if it doesn't finish me.

Well in that case Joe....if applying the same logic...what's a Canadian or anyone else that lives in the Commnonwealth playing it for ? :hmm:
I can only come to the conclusion that SH3 is 'borderless' because of the great work that modders (JS being a classic example) have done to the game

I'm a yank (damn proud too ) and SHIII helped me appreciate U boats even more than I already did. I love them, I love their stories, and I still love SHIII. That said, SHIV has helped me to appreciate our good ol sub boys as well. Both sides is VERY interesting if you only read into it a little.

Either way I will keep playing both. The gameplay of SHIII is just awesome, but there are some gameplay elements of SHIV that is great as well. Once the modders fix the other problems, I may start to have a hard time coming back... Who knows.

I do think SHIII's days will be numbered when, or if GWX moves on. I know GWX is what has kept SHIII alive for me at least.

I didn't say that at all. If I was saying that, how could I account for, or justify, the numbers that were in the SH4 forums at that time??? For as you state, the numbers were similar. No, I'm simply saying that the true test will come at American prime time simply because Americans make up a large percentage of overall SubSim visitors.

Geez, talk about 1 + 1 = 3.

And btw, I love SH3 because I *can* sink British ships. Beating the poms shouldn't just be limited to the Australian cricket team or the Australian soccer team or the Australian rugby league team... :rotfl:

Sorry guys, I need to go out a bit. Things at subsim have been tense lately and I got into a minor tiff over another sim (Il2) here yesterday and over at another forum got really annoyed with a what I am sure is a secret Nazi sympathiser.

Your right JScones, go and sink those pom ships. :rotfl:Oh and jimbuna, I can sink Canadian and Greek ships no problem, and have. Errr well can't tell if they're Canuck or Brit, same darn flag...was a bit before our Maple Leaf.

Bye guys I think I'll take a breather from posting for a few days...especially after the other website thread which was interesting at first but now...

Its the fatality I think thats makes SH3 shine.. knowing that you cant win, but try.
The atlantic has its athmosphere, lot of enemies, and thrills.

Sh4 is not much better, even worse on performance here, and dont give me much more. Sh3 all the way!

Canadian here, playing SH4, also playing SH3 GWX, live on PEI not far from Halifax, one of the bigger Canadian ports in WW2, lots of convoys formed up there. In the end it is just a game, those who took part in the war, the soldiers, were not much different from each other at the end of the day.

By the way I can almost park my sub in my backyard in SH3
