Map of Shipping Lanes.

Hi, did anyone ever release a map of the shipping lanes? the one supplied with SH3 is a little vague!

I would be interested in it too (though I doubt there were any maps made more accurately than the stock version since these routes are not like streets and fixed in place but represent a general lane of many klicks in width)- or if somebody could give me a clue how to keep the routes visible for a few zoom ins longer that would be just as great...

Instead I would like to see the shipping lanes for each period, e.g. if I am in 1949 I don't want to see convoy lanes that were activated in 1941. Maybe this can be done with SHIII commander?

The same would be great for the shipping recognition manual

The only map I know is the one that comes with SH3. Still there is this little mod http://files.filefront.com/Map_Convo.../fileinfo.html that puts the convoy routes on the navigation map. It was working fine with GW1.1a but I'm not 100% sure that it will work with GWX. If you do use it in GWX there is a chance you will miss the GWX map features. In any case use JSGME to enable it so you can get rid of it if you don't like it.

GWX 1.03 has the stock convoy route map as a pull-down at the nav station (F5).

I had one in bmp and jpg format that showed each Grid and each numbered section in it. It was was the SH3 Map copied from the game. Not sure if the Convoy Routes were on it or not but I believe so. Looks like I've lost it in my HDD crash. Can't remember who made it tho. Anyone have a copy of it to share again?

I don't know if that's what you're looking for (I doubt it actually) but I'm posting it just in case. Hopefully someone will post the one you're looking for mate.

Thanks Carotio, I'll download it now, sometimes I can patrol areas, even in the routes shown in SH3 routes map, for days and get nothing! On the last 2 patrols from Lorient in late 41, all I come accross was a total of 3 ships (1 + 2), Doenitz was not amused!

Well, the convoy lanes are only meant as guidelines! Sometimes one finds nothing there, and while doing a search hunt following a lane, one can get a contact report of a convoy WAY OUTSIDE one of these lanes!

I must admit, I find it okay that not all single contacts or convoys are found in these lanes, but just some!

Anyway, the lanes only show up on the far out zoom: Originally RuB map+Convoy lanes mod = Atlantic and Med. The rest of the world in this zoom level is the GWX map. And the closer zoom map isn't been touched/not included, so it's still just the GWX map. Which you'll mainly notice by the letters used to write names of the seas...

Carotio is this map you're talking about the original GWX one or the one you changed to add more cities? What I mean can people use it with GWX (via JSGME) or it works only for your "edited version" of GWX?
