Default Help me choose my next boat!!! (GWX)

So I started in a type II in Kiel , in the beginning of the war, When I was ableto upgrade I got the VIIB, I know I should of gotten the C, but I got the B and upgraded it, engine,battery and sonar.. Its atleast maxed for now..

I have about 5500 renown and just got transfered to BREST, but still nothing new popping up, still just the VIIC which I don't want to get just for fuel distance..

So my question to you all, is what boat should I get next that will give me options later on in the war for upgrades??

I don't want the XXI so forget about saving for that..

What about the IXA or should I get the IXB ?? Or the VII/42 ???

I am so confused

IXC or IXD2. Long patrols, far away hunting grounds and loads of torpedoes.

IXC and IXC/40 are my boats of choice big, fully loaded, but not as clunkerous as the IXD2.

Though I am fast becoming a Type II lover.

If you want to stay with a VII and you intend on trying to survive the whole war, then you should at least take the VIIC. The thing is that the VIIB has limited upgradability while the VIIC goes all the way to the end.

I don't usually like going from the VIIB to the VIIC, but in the long run its better. Me, I don't usually last long. Either from DID or SH3 Commander retirement.

IXC is a very solid U-Boat. IXD2 is a larger version of the IXC with increased range.

It all depends on what type of hunter you are,if you like the cut and thrust of convoy action then go With a type VIIC-41/42,if your more of a ambush type chap then go with a typeIXC/C40,horses for courses as they say

In SH3 terms (as opposed to historical):

IXB = 4 forward, 2 aft, (21 torpedos total) 12,000KM @ 10 kts range,

IXC = same, except 22 torpedos and 13,450KM @ 10Kts range

IXC/40 = same as IXC unfortunatly.

All of the above dive at same speed, share same dimensions./ relatively same speeds and performace.

IXD2 = 4 forward/ 2 aft/ 24-26 torpedo's / 23,700km @ 12 kts range / slowest dive speed / fastest surface speed/ slowest underwater speed / largest dimensions.

IXB Proper lay out is 22 torps you need to correct this stock bug yourself

IXC/40 travels further at a lower surface speed (properly an economical boat)
