I'm using SH3 Commander, GWX and a few other mods which seem to work fine, like for example the white wave tops (apologies I can't remember who did it). For the 'extras' I used JSGME to install.
Just recently though I've added the open hatch mods discussed recently and the lowered antennas mod in the same way, but they don't seem to have worked. They show up in JSGME as enabled but no joy in game. Is there something obvious I should have done or that I've missed? They weren't installed in port, but I thought they would be okay anywhere? Any help appreciated. |

Are you sure you have the correct folder structure? The structure should be
C\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX\MODS\Mod1\Data etc and not C\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX\MODS\Mod1\Mod1\Data etc Also since you did not add them while in port you're tempting fate. My suggestion would be to go to port, disable them, rollback SH3Cmd and then enable them. That should work.

I did quickly check the file structure and it looked okay but I see what you mean and will check again.
Otherwise it's back to port after my current rather long trip to CF99 (in a Type VIIB) for a re-install. Thanks for the advice ![]() |

Did you also roll back SH3Cmdr before activating any mods. This is a must. Mel has given you the first step, check the folder structure to make sure you have not got an extra folder. I know it's going to be a pain but if you enabled these mods while at sea and didn't roll back SH3Cmdr then I would suggest a reinstall, you'll only experience problems later down the line. Frankly, I'm surprised your game even loaded. ![]() Good Luck

Hmmm, thanks for that. I think I committed two sins here
![]() Anyway, maybe due to luck I'm still loading up okay! So I'll continue with the patrol and see what I can do back at Willi next time. As the mods are in my category of 'that would be nice' rather than 'necessity' like GWX it's not really a show-stopper. So just to check my idiot's understanding of what I should do with any mod: 1. wait until port 2. roll back SH3Cmdr 3. install mod with JSGME if poss 4. run SH3Cmdr again 5. sail off into the sunset. Am I okay with that procedure? Also, should I have been running SH3 via SH3Cmdr every time? I guess not as it says at the bottom of the first screen 'loaded via SH3Cmdr' even when I've loaded by clicking SH3.exe. In which case I only need to run SH3Cmdr every time in port? So many questions which I'm sure I must have read about, so my apologies! |

Hi guys
I have the same problem as Vac and having checked my file structure im even more confused now. Mel says that it should read C\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX\MODS\Mod1\Data etc. My folder structure is different. It reads C\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\Mods. The Mod folder contains all the JSGME Mods and that is where the Open Hatch Folder was copied to. Is this incorrect as im new to modding? Im using GWX with SH3 Cmdr 2.7 and GWX Skin pack with few other mods. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Rasher |

Personally, I only use SH3Cmdr to load SH3 after I have finished a patrol, that way I'm likely to get a different set of files added, which makes the game a little more unpredictable. It also means that certain things don't get changed while I'm on patrol. However, you are right, the settings applied by SH3Cmdr will remain active until you 'Rollback', lol, which is why it's important to do so when adding/deleting/enabling/diableing any mods. ![]()

![]() The location of your MODS folder is correct. What Mel was saying is that you make sure that during the unzipping/extraction of your downloaded mods an extra folder is not created. Mods should look like this.....(once inside the MODS folder) Best Mod Ever > data > etc etc NOT Best Mod Ever > Best Mod Ever > data > etc etc ![]()

danlisa, many thanks - I feel a lot happier about what to do.
On the subject of folders, it looks like JSGME copies a mod from the MODS folder and puts in the main SH3 folder? Is that what makes it active or is there a bit more to it? Rasher, no worries about joining in, glad to have you aboard. |

If its going into the main SilentHunterIII folder then its not activated
The file structure isnt right As posted above If you open your Silent\HunterIII\MODS folder and open the mod folder the next folder you should see will be data EG C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\MODS\GWX - Integrated Orders\data |

JSGME does not care what the mod is called it only looks at the second folder in the structure. So normally, 'data' will be the second folder in the mod and as such JSGME will copy the contents into SH3's data folder, the mod is then enabled. However, if you have an extra folder (MOD1 > MOD1 > data........) then JSGME is looking at the second folder called MOD1. If it does this then it will follow the structure that it sees. So in this case a new folder called MOD1 will be created in the SH3 Program folder and the structure of this new folder will follow on as normal, i.e MOD1 > data >.......... This will not enable the mod.

Looks like I have a few extra folders then, because every mod I have enabled appears not only in the MODS folder but also in the main SH3 folder. Odd thing is some work and others don't!
Also I noticed that in the MODS folder but not in the SH3 folder are several others like 16km atmosphere which according to JSGME is not activated. Thanks for help in the continuing struggle against my incompetence ![]() |
