Can anybody tell me how to get the range to the target with the deck gun like in sh3?
Did a search and came up empty.

Regards

Not so much worried about the range of the gun as I am not being able to elevate it while in scope mode. Anyone know?

Are you talking about wanting to elevate the cross-hair in order to hit the target higher up? If so, just set the range higher and your shells will hit higher.

I suppose you can measure the range with the ruler from the sub to the target on the nav map?

Default I use the on-deck TBT...hit U

and arrow up and down will elevate your gun while in zoom. The higher the zoom the slower it reacts.

THe up and down arrows change the range. Holding down shift while using the arrows will make the range change faster.
You could use the statimeter get the range. But we don't have the interaction with the crew anymore like we did in SH3. So you can't ask the deck officer for the range anymore.
I usually just take a few shots and see if it falls short or long myself and adjust accordingly.

Also, click you mouse and take control of the gun. I have a rollerball mouse. The ball will raise and lower the gun and I can swing it around. As far as distance, I send off a few shots until I get a hit. Range found! I get close also so that make it easy.

Just learn to eye it... I can usually score my 1st hit within 1 or 2 shots... I dont even use the scope personally unless its a long shot and I want to see where it hits. Just fire with the crosshair is what i say

If you hold the shift key when you are using the arrow keys the gun will elevate faster.

That's usually how I end up doing it. I'll check the scope for a target then back to the outside view with the crosshairs and then elevate and rotate as I have a need.

Nearly out gunned a DD last night. Had him on fire as he was charging. I had to dive to avoid a head on.
