start up problem

When my game gets to the screen with the sud cutaway and the red bar gets all the way to the right it beeps and just sits forever..When I finally push the ESC key I get the Silent hunter has encountered a problem...Anybody know what the problem is....

Ya got mods installed that you had from patch 1.1? If so back 'em out and you will be fine. If not then remove and re-install - but DO NOT use the 1.1 patch.

Disable your mods, then retry. Then one by one enable them, and try launching sh4 again until you find the one that is causing the problem.

so if you have 1.2 patch you don't need 1.1. Because I downloaded 1.1 then 1.2. will it be a problem??

1.2 is a cumulative patch that includes 1.1
and IMO installing both can cause problems in certain situations.

I did a clean install, then 1.1, and 1.2. I haven't had any problems so far. (Crosses fingers.)

Clay, uninstall the game, make sure all SH4 related files are gone including the SH4 folder in your my documents (it contains save files & cfg stuff) then reboot, defrag and reinstall the game with the 1.2 patch...this worked for me, play a bit to see if everything works ok then start trying your mods.

Just a side note...this procedure "worked for me" it may or may not work for other people.
