Default Crew fired Deckgun doesn´t hit (even not near target)

When tellng my crew to fire the deckgun, the shots hit about 1600 (m i think) behind me when using stern mounted gun, or the shot hit about 2000 m behind the target when using bow mounted gun.
The shots only hit in both cases when the target is about 1600 m away.
Where can I adjust these values?

Just a thought, do you have qualified crew at the guns?
Do you target the enemy with your binoculars?
Are you throwing your boat from side to side with hard turns?
All the above affect accuracy from what I see..

Also if you want help changing values you prolly shoud try the modding forum

Hope this helps..

Tell them to aim at waterline. The crew seems to be coded for arbitrary aimpoints for hull and command deck, resulting in shots going to high for most of the ships in game, especially smaller merchants.

I have found waterline is the fastest way to bring a ship down and more shots hit since fewer go over the top. Also, the skill of the crew, your facing and speed, as well as your proximity all have a very strong effect on the accuracy. Build up your crew, match the target's speed and don't turn fast. If the target is turning, turn slow with them at the same rate so the crew doesn't have to keep re-adjusting.
Weather also has a very strong effect. At the upper edge just before the crew gets disabled, they become more eratic. Historically, subs were such bad gun platforms most skippers debated having guns at all.

I´m not making any turns, aiming at waterline, targeted the ships with the binoculars and my crew ist specialized for the guns.

Got any trained crewmembers manning it ?

My crew seems to be crack shots... hell they can hit a ship at 2000 yards while doing 18 knots and full starbord rudder. No small feat.

My Crew is trained. But I think somehing with the gun is wrong.
When I aim manually at the range the target is away, it also goes far over it.
So I think I have to do some calibration.
I think it is a modding prob. Anything must have happened.

Yea its a known issue that the aiming cross hairs are a bit off. Its easy enough to compensate for though. Wouldent supprise me that this may have happened in real life.

Ive always been fascinated by the fact that a gun can be submerged, in salt water no less, sometimes to great depths and be surfaced and ready to fire in a few minutes.

They did when they remembered or had time to.

Even then though rest assured they were not water tight as water wold seep in through the breech anyhow. Then theres the other mechanisims that affect elevation and direction, not to mention the optics.

Id love to see the actual maintance proceedures on how this was done.
