For some time I've been using Beery's Pacific Theater Mod (adds Dutch Harbor as a career start and 21 start dates)
I mainly use this because I wanted an S boat out of Pearl (its available there for a short time) Problem was I wanted the S boat from wars start till the end so I could start a career at any time and have my sugar boat. This meant doing some editing in the flotilla and career start upc files, then Ducimus solved some problems with his simple fix for boat retirement dates and his reworking of the patrol structure...the trouble was that the S boat doesn't have the range of the other boats so many patrols simply were not doable...well I fixed that by adding a doable patrol structure using what Ducimus already had in place for the other boats. (at least I think so) Along with some other additions such as LukeFF's Hull ss numbers mod and some of my own ideas (I fixed a few inconsistencies with sub transfers after flotilla disbanding) I have come up with a nice career patrol mod that works great for me so far. I think this would be useful to a lot of other skippers who maybe don't want to use a compilation mod but still want these features. If Ducimus, Beery and LukeFF are ok with having a third party merge and alter their work then I would release this. in a nutshell here are the features: - adds S18 to Pearl through the war's end - adds Dutch Harbor as a starting location, includes missions - Beery, from PTM 1.12 - adds 21 career starts to match video briefings - Beery, reorganized by me - revised patrol structure to eliminate repeating patrols - Ducimus, reorganized for the S boats by me, from FTT 2.4 - adjusted sub availability intervals to eliminate early retirement - Ducimus - moved harbor starting location for Pearl, fixes IDL bug - Ducimus - reversed renown options - adds hull ss numbers - LukeFF - cleaned up .upc files, checked dates and inconsistencies ![]() |

Im fine with that. When i did that file i did so knowing that it could become the flotilla file people use as a base for their mods given what it does and the work it took to make it. Do what you want with it, i don't mind.

Heh, i have some tricks ive picked up over the years.
What i did was make a template in a txt file. Certain thigns you can use "find and replace on" works like a charm. Id make one, find/replace certain variables , then take the new block and paste it in. Some of the best modding tools are acutally, wordpad, notepad, and beleive it or not, winzip. Winzips my favorite. Say you want to edit all the SNS files in the sea directory. Creating all those sub directories is a PITA and chances are you'll screw up. Zip the entire sea directory in winzip, then sort the contents of the zip file by file type, and delete all the files you dont want. Leaving just the SNS files. Unzip that into your mod, and BAAM, all SNS files in their proper directories. Things you learn ![]() |
