Default Gentelmen, I have arrived to the Pacific

Gentelmen, I have arrived to the Pacific! Got today a collectors edition of Silent Hunter 4. Installed and know I will install patch 1.1. Then shakedown cruise...ehehe
Know, since I'm a noob in this game, what mods should I put?

Welcome aboard.

Look in this thread for possible mods. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108964

Most of them are about gameplay preference, so just play the stock SHIV a bit and see how it is to your liking. If you think something should be changed, there's probably a mod for it in the thread above.

Have fun and may your torpedoes strike true! (cheesy phrase, I know :rotfl: )

Run any mod which fixes bugs, for your own sanity, and ours :P
As much as i hate "self advertsing" you can always grab my SH4 tweak package. Ive documented it as best i could. Delete what you don't like.

Sorry to rain on your parade, the best idea is to put the CD back in the box, find a safe space on your home office shelf and wait, either for the games developers or mod team or both to come up with a playable game.

this is agreat game, or rather it will be, but at the moment its a waste of time

That's odd, I'm having a great time putting gaping holes in Japanese frieghters and ripping sampans up with my 20mm AA guns.

I tried last night, activeted a few options of the graphics. Maybe is my pc, but the game is a bit slower interface, great graphics.
I am still in the submarine school. Seing the interior's, interface, playing with the sonar/radar/helm/periscopes, crew management etc.

Yes, I forgot about the ducimus tweak. Nah, have the game, lets play. Have 2 weeks leave, since my U-boat is in dry dock, so lets have a little hollydays in the pacif to relax.
Thanks!

I think people who want to find something to complain about will find something to complain about.:p
I'm having a really great time with SH4 however, although it has some bugs.

Just got the game. Dowloaded the patch. Installing.

I thought I would wait until some more kinks were ironed out -- but I just can't do it.
If it wasn't a subsim, maybe I could wait, but I can't.

Looking forward to the shakedown.
(Really looking forward to some realism mods!)

Thanks, already done a shearch and downloaded a few mods, then I will install and run. And begin my career. By the way, why or what is a difficulty setting when one is begining the career option? Suprised me! Do chosing easy or hard alter the settings of the realism?

I'm in sub sim heaven. I play SH4 and then switch over to SH3/GWX. The fact that there are graphical and interface differences only increases the sense that I'm in two different parts of the world.
