Default Seen This Yet?

I'll try to dig up the screenie tonight.

I went into a port and caught the a convoy at the end of its run, sinking everything in shallow waters where the masts were still above sealevel. I pushed 30 miles past and offed the ships in the port, then came back.

Suddenly my sub takes a hit. Oh crap! Where did that come from? The escorts for the convoy had disappeared long ago before I attacked, maybe they came back?

I do a quick 360 with the scope, then go to F11 to look around....wait... is that a SUB? I see a small tip sticking out of the water 60 degrees off my bow. I "fly" out there to take a look and this is what I found....

The butt end of a destroyer sticking just slightly out of the water. I get in close and hear the engines still running, though the props are not spinning. I go underwater and am even more amazed to find that this is only the REAR half of the destroyer. the front evidently came off and the game removed it. But the mid-section is now almost 90 degrees face-down in the sand.... and somehow this thing.... with guns submerged....managed to get a shot off at me!!!

I checked my map, and here's the interesting part. I marked the location of all the ships I sunk out there because it was shallow and I didn't know if the game would keep them there or not. Best to be safe. Well, this destroyer is directly over the spot where I had sunk a large freighter.

All I can guess is this is either a funky bug, or the destroyer came in at speed and got snagged... leaving a valiant engine crew and some die-hard gunners to wait for me to return.

Actually, it was pretty funny. I just went to flank to get "below" them and didn't bother wasting shells or fish on HALF a DD. lol

Weird, huh?

I had something kinda like that. Was showing a large convoy out of the islands off Japan. Four escorts with about 8 or 9 merchants. After a few minutes I noticed that the Destroyer in the back of the pack was'nt moving. At first I thought maybe they had detected me and were "listening" for me. However several minutes went by and still no movement, with the rest of the convoy leaving out of sonar range. So I decide to approach the DITW Destroyer and to my amazement it was a-blaze. I was stunned. I had not fired any fish or shells. So I pull up to her beam and fire off a fish and blam, credit for a sinking.

I also have noticed after finishing a mission in the bay area, once I get to open seas while suberged I have unexpainable explosions, leading to my sinking and death. 500 feet of water under me, nothing over me. Weird.

Oh-oh, and one more thing. I snuck into the bay again, sank a Carrier and two heavy cruisers at anchor, then put two fish into another Destroyer. It did'nt sink but limped to the other side of the bay at a mere 8 knots. Then, all of a sudden, it goes into reverse, at 28 KNOTS!!!!! Wth?

I did enjoy watching a Medium Gunship run past me at full speed while trying to track me and ran RIGHT into the dock. The engines then kept coming on like machine gun fire trying to go forward and stopping in succession. Since he was in the dock, I thought it'd be a good thing to sink that thing right where it was and limit some unloading capacity, so I surfaced and put two shells dead center and she popped.
