Why is there no Hydrophone station

I know USS subs used sonar but why do we have to look at a text message to tell us where a ship is located in rel to our position. It kind of takes all the excitement away from finding the ship. Also getting the range to a ship is very hard and you have to keep pushing an icon to get range. This just seem very unorothdox. Can the modders do something about this or can the Devs put something in in a new patch. You never know for sure how far the ship is away from you, when located.

Your hydrophone station is right next to your sonar...
