[TIP] Long time to display messages fix
After you save a game exit the program and open your save game directory (my documents\sh4\data\cfg\savegames\)
There are a bunch of directories with numeric numbers, search for the last one and open the file SaveData.rmr with a text editor, there are a number of entries there ie : [Log Entry 98] Type=0 EntryText=From: COMSUBPAC|To: USS Pollack|Contact Reported. Enemy Convoy , Long 135° 06' E, Lat 37° 14' N , Course E, Speed 9 KTS! EntryTitle=23:54 Radio Contact Report Date=19420101 Time=2354 Categ=3 Delete all except the few last ones and save, no need to renumber them. Just to be safe and don't ruin the most succesfull patrol ever (murphy is omnipresent) make a backup before modifying. Ref |

Today I searched though a bunch of SH4 files to try to do this same thing. I was going to post my results but got too busy. Yes it does work. I do believe though that after running the game the first time after doing this, and then saving my career, it said "save failure". I saved it again and it didn't give me any more messages like that. Haven't had any loading problems and everything else seems to be intact with my carreer other then the long list of long past contact reports. Being able to maike a cup of coffie, brush my teeth and shave this morning before the log book would open up was enough for me to try anything.
