Default Confused About GWX Skin Pack and GWX 1.03

The Skinpack readme:

This skin pack is over 500MB so the download has been divided into four parts. To install you will need to unzip and copy all files into your \SH3 Commander\Date\ folder.

But I only got a single Data folder when I downloaded from :
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/

Is there more? Where do I get them then?

Also from the readme:

See the SH3 Commander documentation for more information on installing and using this skin pack.

I looked in all the readmes and Help files inside of SH3 Commander and didn't see anything relating to installing these skins. Can anyone tell me specifically where to locate this documentation?

Thanks in advance. I am really enjoying SH3 with GWX 1.03...so much so that I have shelved SH4 for the time being....not that I don't like SH4...I just find GXW 1.03 irrestible.

So...please help me get this mod installed...I don't want to screw up my SH3/GWX 1.03 installation.

When the first mod came out, it have been in four parts, but JScones and danlisa made it all in one. To install you will need to unzip and copy all files into your \SH3 Commander\Date\ folder. This skin is only available with using SH3 Commander!

The single download that is available on the GWX website is the only version you need. We just compressed it a little more.

As for installing, you have 2 options....

1) Actually install another copy of JSGME inside the SH3 Cmdr program folder. You will have to set the folder structure correctly if you use this method.

2) Extract the Skin Pack and just copy & paste the date folder over the one that's in SH3 Cmdr's program folder.

The usual still applies, be in port before/after a patrol & rollback Cmdr.

I recommend option 2.

Please note that the readme inside the Skin Pack is not upto date. (my fault)

Anything else?

EDIT - Remarkable he gets credit for everything! grumble grumble LMAO :rotfl:LOL

:hmm: I don't see a problem with that. I think it is the way it should always be. Far better to get erroneous credit than erroneous blame.

Danlisa,
I went ahead and used the JSGME option, placed the date folder within the mods folder in SH3 Commander, and then activated it. This included the skins mod, as well as the roundels mod. But I can't tell if they're working, although it does seem like I'm seeing a big variety in skins, mostly on destroyers and escorts. Was the approach I used valid, or should I go back and put it all in the SH3C's main date folder, as you suggested? Thanks in advance for your help.

If you installed JSGME into SH3 Commanders program folder then you need to add a further folder to the mod. Remember to disable the version you have just tried.

Make the folder tree of the skins look like this.....& then copy it into the MODS folder inside the SH3Cmdr Program Folder.

GWX Skin Pack > date > etc etc.....

I personally prefer this approach as you can easily remove the skin pack, if (say) a new version or updated version is released.

You can check to see if it has worked correctly by checking the size of the date folder in SH3 Cmdr. It should be around 1.6GB.

Please note that these skins are date based and most should appear in game around 1943/44 if you want to check in the museum.

Just so you know, the first folder name in any JSGME ready mod is never used, so if your first folder is called date than all folders after that in the tree are the ones that are copied into the folder that you want to enable the mods for.

Alas Klar??
