I am playing at 42% realism and I don't know how to determine the range to target. Can anyone advise please?

if your playing that low , then the scpore has a littke triangle in the view. Put that on a ship and press L that will lock the view of the pscope to that ship and the range is worked out for you and the speed draw out the tab on the left of the scope and you will see what type of ship it is , its range and speed. Triangle goes yellow or green then its good to fired torp.

Yep assuming auto TDC for that low, go to periscope mode, left hand site to bring out the position keeper, ship type and range is displayed there.
Or just measure it off nav map using the ruler. |

You can also Ping your contact for an exact range only if its unescorted.
Do Not Ping with DD's around as you will give your position away. |
