Has the Final version of GWX come out yet?

Has it? I lost track with the hoopla about SHIV.

Not even close. The 1.03 patch is in late beta testing and release is as early as this week and after that there are plans for a major update. Its far from over.

Will there be compatibility problems between 1.02 saved games and 1.03 saved games?
I might have to postpone starting a new career in that case.

I belive the will be compatibility, but make the upgrade when you are in dock

There will be more likelyhood of compatibility, but as always, whenever campaign files are changed, there are no promises.

I think that is cool,
With the greatest respect to USN&IJN it's just not the same type of battle in The Atlantic as it is in The Pacific!
I hope SHV at least takes something from what we are trying to do here and gives us some U-boat waffe action! (or maybe GW,NYGM, UWAC...etc, can make cool additions.)

GWX will out live stock SH4 and that's a fact.

I'm sure one day the limit of how far SH3 can be improved, will have been reached...even sound- and skin-wise.
Interesting and relevant new units will all have been created, added to GWX, or released as independent mods.

With DD's OpenHatch-mod, another gap has been closed...same as with the GWX' floating/sinking-ships bug-fix.
The point of perfection - within hardcoded limits - is getting nearer with every GWX-update (and with every NYGM-update, I suppose).

In the end, the only possible progress, will be for campaigns and single/multiplayer-missions...but that's a process outside SH3/GWX, based on research and imagination.
