Anyone else trying this? It's pretty fun (but I can see why the USN gave up on it!)
Just plot on the nav map for AOB and speed, and use sonar ranging and bearing. The bad thing about it is that you pretty much have to do a 3-way click-off between the sonar station, attack/nav map, and periscope view (no other place to enter speed and AOB) It's pretty nice to fire blind at 90ft-when all the math works and the PK does it's job (or rather, the AI sonarman dosen't wreck your solution by deciding to change tracks) It also shows you how bad we need a full set of TDC and map tools in the attack plot, and "Track nearest Warship/Merchant" commands for the AI sonar. |
