My first post ever on subsim - I've been a lurker for too long.
First off, if you're looking for the answer to the Vista 64-bit question, have no fear the game runs great! Load times are really short. The short list of the bugs I've seen are the CTD when pressing "A" button, the transparent sailors (on my own vessel), and some temporary weirdness with particle lighting (goes away pretty quickly, but it's almost like it has to purge the last lighting data on the particles from the previous time you were looking at them). Oh yeah, and I can't get the radar to work. So no new bugs to report. Last night played until 2 in the morning, I just couldn't stop. Took me FOREVER to find a copy here. None at Target, BB, CC, Fry's Electronics, finally I found ONE EB Games in the Phoenix area that had 3 copies, one of which was a pre-order. So me and 2 other lucky guys in Phoenix get to play it (at least purchasing from a brick & mortar store). Looks like I'll be buying my PC games online from now on. I am really glad I fought the temptation to download the game, it's nice to have the map & everything that you get a hard copy of. What's up with not discounting the price if you download? That's lame. If you're on the fence about whether or not to pick up the game, don't hesitate! The dev team did an absolutely OUTSTANDING JOB on SH4, and they're putting some amazing patch support behind it. I work in the industry and understand first hand what it takes to make and manage game development - it's not easy work. So this is my big thanks to the dev team! -LaughinGass |
