Default How do I Find the Ships I Want?

I'm curious about something.

I've noticed a lot of people using what looks like the mission editor to show us where mines are laid, and other interesting pieces of information.

I'm wondering, has someone used this to find out where certain ships are at certain dates in GWX? It'd just be useful to know for me because I'm a harbor raider, and I'd like to see harbors when I know something is up, or is being planned.

There's a short list of capital ships and dates in the Wiki in the "Hunting Grounds" section.

There's also a cheat for GWX that shows ship traffic. I haven't used it so I don't know if it shows ship names or harbor traffic, but you might try that.

Spy sattelite for GWX is the cheat named above I havent got the link
handy here though.

also alternatively if you want an eye opener.

go to mission editor and open.

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Campaigns\Campa ign

and Open SCR layer in editor and have a look at the entire world for the
entire war. ( some knowledge of mission editor required to interpret results)

BTW, I may have given you bad advice about the Wiki. I just went into Loch Ewe during November 39 - per the Wiki - looking for the HMS Nelson. After a pretty long and slow approach - no Nelson. A nice fat liner - but American, so no dice.

So mabye the Wiki is for the stock game and not GWX.

OK, I opened the mission editor per The Mush's suggestion. HMS Nelson and HMS Hood are both in the Firth of Clyde in November 39, not in Loch Ewe. So the Wiki is incorrect and must be based on non-GWX. And the Firth looks like a death trap of mines.

The SH3gen utility will provide you with that kind of information and put it on your in-game map, or you can load the info into a gis viewer. See the thread for the latest version here:

Shoot, it requires dotNet, which I will not use. Not after what it did last time.

Oh well.

I peeked around, as someone told me to ealier, using the mission editor. While it was great to see where everything was/could be, there was too much for me to take note of where things would be.

Installed it on hundreds of machines and never had a single problems either .. must be mostly Microsoft Angst that keeps people away from it.

The runtime dlls are only loaded into memory when a dotnet application is running. So I cannot see how this update should be causing any harm, as I cannot see with other runtimes like Java or Python. If they were so bad, why would they be used so much in all "serious" kinds of applications, except games of course ..
