Perhaps the people could have a say in what they want ... More european type of freedoms is what they have expressed in the past.

I hope they parade this general around so they can share his insider information and help others cross over the line too.

Hardly. Try China vs. US. Iran can't begin to hope to keep up militarily. 400 Bil budget vs Irans $6.3 billion. I think Bush actually asked for $750 Billion. Anyway, Iran is hardly a fraction of the US budget.

China probably spends at least 1/4 to 1/2 the US and all of its defense spending is tailored towards taking on the US - that is your current state of cold war.

That's a good news link Happy Times ... first time I've heard of it and this happened about a month ago.

About the same time the U.S brought up the fact that roadside bombs were being provided by Iran ... :hmm:

We will "go to war" with Iran when the price of oil is already screwed. Such as if Iran openly attacks Saudi Arabian infrastructure and crude hits $120. Until Brent Oil Crude is literally at $120 per barrel, there will be no sustained conflict. We'll protect the tankers leaving the Gulf...or....whatever is possible in the Hormuz.

That entire place is going to look like Padre beach before we do anything.

Which version? I'll bet they have a dozen different potential plans drawn up as they would with any potentially hostile nation.

There's a story in the old testament about a city surrounded by it's enemy and an old lady says, "Lets just cut off the head of the one they want and throw it over the wall, and then they will go away and leave us alone"

Internal conflict is showing with this deflection of a retired general ... imagine what his poor family must be going through.

This conflict has not been resolved yet ... they either stop the nuclear program they are on or war is on the way.

Is anyone other than me really worried about the welfare of themselves and their loved ones? It seems many talk about open war like it was a simulation

From what I've read of this, you can thank Valerie Plame/Wilson and her front company, Brewster/Jennings, for this. Consider how long this guy has been an intelligence asset and the fact that his defection occured at the time of the Libby verdict, when Brewster/Jennings is in the news again. It seems to me that he was probably recruited by B/J and Mrs. Wilson when she was still being George Smiley.
