hello again!
I have a question about the TDC (F6) station. I am trying to manually setup the torpedo and if possible w/o using this "datablock" - just by entering all data in the TDC manually: 1) leftmost dial: What do the red and green numbers that always add up to 10 mean? The dial shows at which angle the torp leaves the boat. 2) The second dial from the left is (if i remember correctly) the distance to target. I do not understand why changing the distance that the torpedo travels has no impact on the angle the TDC predicts? Even if all other dials have been set changing the distance does not change the course of the torpedo what am i doing wrong? 3) the AOB dial shows the AOB the ship should have before shooting or when the torpedo reaches the target? 4) the speed of target dial is clear - showing the speed the target travels. Can you help? Thanks! |

I think the easiest way for you to figure out the stuff is to go realistic difficulty with weapon officer assistance. Do your own targeting whatever you think, then have him input the target data and see how it differs. You should pick up on it a little easier that way.
For the range dial all that's for is to compute time to impact for your torpedos. It's normal not to affect their projected path. When inputing data manually dont forget to switch it back so you can aim with your parascope or uzo, otherwise it stays locked at whatever bearing you were looking at last. |

thanks for the reply but i still do not seem to understand.
lets assume as ship is 1500m,11kn,aob90 (when the torp hits). The torp will leave the boat at about 20 degrees so it will hit exactly when the enemy ship is at 0 degrees in the periscope.problem now -- lets say the boat is 2500 m away then i would have to shoot much earlier! i do not understand how distance does not affect the path. i will try comparing wepons officers solutions against mine. but the initials questions still remain. thanks for the help so far. |
