Default Any Wood Sailing Ship Sims Out There?

I wonder if this has been done? Wood sailing ships, maybe based during the Napoleonic Wars or some such time...I'm thinking: crew management much in the same fashion as SH3 with dynamic campaigns, historical scenarios/missions, boat/equipment upgrades, individual promotion/reward system, transfers, etc...swashbuckling the high seas fighting for Britain, France or whomever. Sounds fun right? Maybe also a choice to become a privateer although not exactly necessary imo.

Lol... just finished watching Master and Commander as well as Hornblower: the TV Series when it dawned on me...I haven't seen a game like that yet. Unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable enough in programming to do things on my own and novice at best with Photoshop.

Perhaps ordering my crew to "Beat to Quarters" or having them run the starboard side guns out for a broadside, or have them carry pistols and cutlasses during a boarding party...and reward them with an extra ration of grog for a job well done will always remain just out of reach.

HELP!!! Need new forms of sea simming carnage!

The Russian software developer Akella released a game called Age of Sail II based on the old Talonsoft title Age of Sail which focused on ragwagon fleet actions. Age of Sail II was so buggy that the expansion game Privateers Bounty was released in a attempt to rectify all of Age of Sail II's problems. Don't know if either is still available. Here's an old Gamespot review....

The Privateer's Bounty version was a marked improvement.

Although there's no dynamic campaign, just a few linked ones and a bunch of single scenarios.

No...but thanks guys. I gave this a shot but didn't like much about that game. Personally I get more satisfaction with Voyage Century.

I'm still hopeful tho'...

A better Age of Sail game by Akella is an RPG called Sea Dogs. Sea Dogs II was planned but changed later to become a movie tie-in for Pirates of the Carribean. Don't know if that move helped sales but it certainly turned me away. I like the movie by the way. Just like Sea Dog more.

Wooden Ships and Iron Men was the greatest naval battle game I've played to date. But it was Real-time Tactics, not a simulator.

Looks pretty cool. Hope it turns out better than some of the recent games of this type though...

Age of Pirates
is alot more in depth and you can upgrade your ship etc.. alot more RPG type

Salvo! published by Shrapnel Games. Looks like a modern version of Wooden Ships and Iron Men.
