Default Should I throw it away?

Ok ive had my IXB proudly since I joined the second flotilla in the early 40's ive managed to sink quite a bit of ships with it but ill get to the qeustion at hand. Do you think it is possible to survive the rest of the career properly without upgrading to a IXC or a IXD2 etc. As in will I be able to get good tonnage and should I keep upgrading my beloved IXB or should I leave it to rust and save my presteige for another sub. I'd happily keep it for the end of my career but I think its limiting me to what bases I should operate out of. Has anyone else here ever got a sub close to the beggining and kept it to the end of the war.

I think as long as the upgrades such as the snorkle and other jazz are used even a VIIC can hash it out.

The only trade I would consider would be the IXD2 and only if I intended to hunt in the Indian Ocean and surrounding area

Don't toss the old girl aside just because she's a bit creaky, used and worn out! Stick with her, I say....

Don't worry, the enemy a/c in 1944/45 will take you away the decision anyway and scrap your boat for you. :p

Just don't be stingy with plastering your boat with all the neat RWR's (FuMB) like METOX, NAXOS, etc. that's the best life insurance.

Cheers,
AndyW

Better is better, so you should always upgrade.

The trick is to upgrade correctly. If your IXB is all "pimped up" right now (loaded with goodies), upgrading to a stock IXC, for example, will actualy result in a DOWNgrade since it will come with only basic gear and not all the cool optional things. You should upgrade only when you have enough renown to afford the new ship PLUS all the upgrades that will bring it up to par with your current boat´s upgrades.

The only reason to change up to an IXC is if you feel the little bit extra fuel it has would help you.

The only reason to change up to an IXD2, is if you plan on going to the indian ocean.
