Default Kaleun injured on sick leave: ME!!

Well, gonna write this once and cross-post this to my fave forums. Busted myself up…in a stupid way. Was riding my bike home Friday evening when something got out of wack on the front fender and was causing the tire to scrape on it. I tried to kick it straight and somehow got my shoe, or jeans caught on the tire … the sudden stop shot me forward over the handlebars and I landed with my arms out. Damage: left wrist (radial) broken in 4 or 5 places and right elbow sprained, though the latter is better now. 3 days in the hospital and an operation (local anesthetic, cool how they found the 4 nerves in my arm with electrodes) to set the bones and fit a titanium bar and screws and resting at home since Monday. Good folks at the hospital, had food cut up for me too. Oh and you guys here will appreciate that Saturday, the day I was operated (noon) I got to watch Das Boot and my neighbour (I spent one night in a double room before I was moved to a large room) an old guy with a crushed disk was a sub nut and reading a book about August Picard.

Yes it is a pain doing daily stuff, especially as the right arm is still a bit sore and not 100% (much better than a few days ago though). My reading has indicated the bone is already knitting nicely. Zoned out on pain killers, at least til the stiches come out next Wednesday. Plus friends have helped / will help me with the cleaning getting easy food (ready to eat) etc. Work is cool too…plus they have accident insurance that covers everything (non-work related accidents as well). So idle for few weeks, and a cast for 6…but I should be free by my B-day on April 15th. Internet is ok, games, well I am grounded obviously, but can play SH3 and old hex games like Steel Panthers World at War. I can type slowly too. Need Velcro shoes though!! Pretty stupid really. Makes one appreciate good health and multiple limbs. I mean really.

I feel for ya. I broke my wrist back in November, was in a cast for 4 weeks. The hard part was the therapy after they took off the cast. Still not 100% but they said it could take 6-12 months before it was like it was before I broke it. Really hard trying to do things one handed.

Hope you're up and back to having fun again real soon, but not on a bike for a while

Hurt just reading about your accident

Yes indeed, not a very pleasant thing. I had my share of bike accidents, man those things are dangerous if you don't watch out :p

Good luck with your recovery!

Dang, Joe, you forgot rule #1: Don't kick the moving parts while they're moving!

Hope you're hale and hearty soon.

Thanks folks, you know how it goes. The bike will have to be shot. Buttons suck with one hand too.

Sh3 works with one hand (and fingers of the other) fine though!
