Default Sonarman Dead

This happened to me twice. So i dive down deep, but on the way i get attacked by a DD or two. And the DD drops the DCs , some are way off but some are right near the sub. The damage is usually heavy flooding, and one or two compartments badly damaged. But some times my Sonar man gets killed and my radio man gets injured? ITs only those two crewmembers that are affected by the attacks. So why does this happen?

Is it because they were wearing the headphones and their "heads" explode?

To be honest i don't know what's worse, dead sonarman or deaf sonarman? And both are quite common...
But why it's only the sonar/radio room affected in your case? No idea, i thought it's a random thing...

This has been the case for as long as I've been playing (stock, then RuB then GW/GWX). The radio room always gets the brunt of the damage when you're D/C'd or if you hit a mine. Don't know why, or if it's accurate, but thems the haps.

well i've read that sonarmen, go deaf and may suffer head trauma if they wear their headphones when a DC explodes near the sub., and plus the equipment in the radio room prolly gets damaged with the vibrations.
