Default Help with a song

I remember a song back in the early eighties /late 1970s that had very odd lyrics. It was sung in a 1930s style and the lyrics mentioned a ship in her blues? a cut finger? and iodine?I heard it on BBC Radio 1 on the US chartshow that was done by Paul Gambaccinni. on a saturday afternoon. What on earth was this song called??
