Could you be more specific? Or better draw a diagram on how your network is setup.

I am a cable/internet tech and not 100% sure on your ADSL ..but If it is directly connected to the server I am guessing it is "Bound" to the Mac address of that machine, and wont work on another...if you have a router inline "first" then split to both machines you should be fine ..if your server is connected directly to the dsl modem and you are networked through a second ethernet card so you can share files etc. computer to compter then I am guessing also you may be able to "share" the servers internet connection if it is specified in the Network settings somewhere that ,that is what you want to do TCP/IP settings etc...sounds like though you may be in over your head there...best thing to do is contact your ISP and have them do it right for ya....

I will try to explain the setup:
1) I have 2 computers linked over Lan via a 100mhz hub, this is working ok for filesharing & playing lan games etc. (Loca Area Connection 1 - tcp/ip 192.168.0.1) 2) I have an ADSL connection using a USB router, connected to what has to be the Host. (Local Area Connection 2) 3) I have ticked ICS in the Local Area Connection 2. 4) The client has Local Area Connection 1 only (tcp/ip 192.168.0.2). I hope this helps. ![]() Thanks. PS. When client is trying to connect to web the bottom left corner displays: Connecting to site 66.102.7.104 - who knows what the heck this is????

Do ipconfig /all on system trying to connect to web. It might be DNS.
I never tried sharing web connection, but under advanced options in Local Area Connection option, it has settings to enable sharing. |

My homepage is google so that explains that.
![]() Sorry but don't know what ipconfig or DNS is, are you referring to host or client? ![]() Also running zonealarm, should this be activated on the client, or does it use the host's? This is frustrating!! ![]()

I'm guessing the problem is like all DSL connections.
You have a login/password. If you plug your Router in and go through the setup hoops, it should pull the DSL login info off of the computer you had hooked up before and log in for your whole network. If it doesn't either you don't haven it plugged in properly, set up the router improperly, or you just got a ****ty router. I kinda doubt the last one in most cases. I'm a cable advocate... no login & no resident software. ![]()

Presuming you're using XP, have a look here:
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/ I was trying to do the same and then decided to buy a router with a DSL WAN connection (DG834G) which has the benefit of Wireless connectivity for our laptops and it means I don't need to leave the host PC on all the time. I picked it up on ebay for about £45.

Perhaps I skipped some of the posts here, but if you have a router, you don't need a host PC. The router will do it for you.

Hi I have gone through completely with both of the following links & both come up with the same results.
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/ics_xp http://xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4150-1754853,00.html I can access the internet on the Host PC & can share files over the Lan on either host & client, but the client will not access the internet, I can try on the client with, or without a firewall, makes no difference??? ![]() Am checking your link now lesrae, but not holding my breath! ![]() Frustrated big time! ![]() Edit: wouldn't have a clue about any of this, way over my head!! WARNING #2: Don't enable ICS if any computer in your network is configured as a domain controller, DHCP server, or DNS server. Don't enable it if another computer is running ICS or Network Address Translation (NAT). WARNING #3: To enable ICS, you must be logged on as a user that is a member of the Administrators group. WARNING #4: If you establish a Virtual Private Networking (VPN) connection while sharing a different connection, the client computers won't be able to access the Internet until the VPN connection is ended.
