I've noticed for sub-sim fanatics, you don't appreciate your roots.

Your roots ARE found in the Age of sail, in particular the book called:
Underwater warfare in the Age of Sail by Alex Roland.

Buy it, lest I ping your submarine on Gamespy and decide to attack you viciously.
