Navigation map, Sub ID

Gentleman,
Does anyone know of a way or if a "patch" exist to identify each sub by user ID on the navigation map?

I find that when I am playing multiplayer, and there are 8 boats out there, it's hard to identify who is who! Particularly, during the heat of battle. During one game, one of the boats needed assistance after being "jumped" by an EVARTS DD. At that time, two other boats were in trouble and I had NO way of knowing who was who. Looking through the scope is misleading because the ID's overlap! If each boat ID was also visable on the navigation map, at a glance, I could determine how close I was and if I could offer help.
For example, when I play multiplayer my user name is "CVA14" (my old ship). THAT ID should appear next to my sub on the navigation map at all times.
How would one create a patch for this to happen?
