I have GWX. I am using the new torpedos [the ones that are black]. I fire and they just bounce off. 4 torps on a ship with no boom. is there a switch I'm supposed to hit? The one in the TDC that has I/M and that one is switched to M. Should I switch it to I? The only speed I'm allowed with the new torpedos is slow.

Whats the distance that you are firing in relation to the target?

If you use the magnetic setting then set the torpedo depth 1/2 or 1 metre deeper If you use the impact setting then try to ensure your AOB is correct ![]() |

and are you getting the depth correct coz if you hit the curved bit on the ships hull then it will just bounce off like you are experiencing. try and either raise or lower the depth setting a metre or two

Thanks. I'm going to try and set it to I for impact and then raising my torp some. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how it goes.
![]() ![]() I'm going to experiment with the settings. I'll get it. I'm so used to fire and forget. This GWX is really realistic. I kept thinking they were duds. BTW. I was hitting at an angle so the bounce off that mooncatt talks about might be the problem. Could be a combination of that and distance [although that apeared good as far as I could tell]. |

cool hope it goes well. the magnetic torps are supposed to be set just below the ships keel and explode when they sense the metal. impact are used in bad weather conditions.

To make sure the torpedo will go boom you must:
1. Fire from at least 300m away (better still 400+ meters) 2. make sure your Angle of the Bow (AOB) is around 90deg (give or take 10-15deg). 3. If you're using magnetic pistols (M) fire 0.5m under the keel of the ship but remember that bad weather conditions can affect the shot. 4. Make sure your gyro-angle is small (around 5deg max-better still 0deg) This can be seen in the periscope screen when you're about to fire. There is a small triangle there, if it's green you're OK, if it's yellow you might still hit to ship but it's more difficult and if it's red forget about it. 5. Make sure you set the correct running depths for your torpedoes. Don't hit the ships too low on their draft as they tend to be more curvy in that area and the torpedoes might bounce off. Good Luck ![]()
