Hi
Any idea why my Stadimeter range readings are over a 1000 Metres out of range at under 5nm? Using the instructions from the manual and dragging the side of the photo with the highest mast down until the highest mast is level with the waterline on the other half. But when active ranging with sonar my Stadimeter readings short by a long margin. Thanx

1000m is only about 0.5Nmi which is an error of only 10%. Everything doesn't have to be perfect to ten decimal places. You're in the ball park. That's good enough to shoot on. The interesting thing about naval warfare, and ASW in particular is that you're reasoning in the face of uncertainty. Part of the challenge of the game is in managing uncertainty so that you can make better decisions. |

It has also been reported that better results are obtained using the highest structure (not mast).

In the meantime I put it somewhere in the middle. As SQ said, you don't need all that accuracy in most cases anyway.
