Having just got a new Toshiba (U200 - 10D) I thought I'd see if it would run SH3 okay.
And the answer was yes after a fashion, except... 1. Graphics were obviously not so good as it only has on-board Intel 945, but it was playable. 2. The display is widescreen so the image was slightly stretched. 3. It got a bit hot! I only installed SH3 not GWX just to try it out, and after say 15 minutes in the Type XXI mission where you get to sink a couple of carriers (nice), the Toshiba seemed to be kicking out a lot of heat. So I'm wondering whether I should go ahead and get GWX on (not much point in just having SH3 IMO) as I know it'll stress things a lot more? If I do, I assume there are workarounds which others have used to get the display right and lower the load? Any thoughts appreciated! |
