Default Separate sub-forum for just patrol logs?

What do you think of having a separate sub-forum exclusively for posting your patrol logs, and possibly your stories as well?

I am aware of sub-communities (sub as in subset, not submarine, LOL!) that have their own servers where they u/l their logs. I think it is a great idea. Of course, not everyone is part of these communities or has access to a place to u/l their logs.

:hmm: Dunno about a dedicated forum here at Subsim though, but someplace where any player could u/l their Personnel Files or Patrol Logs would be a great idea.

Unfortunately, I just don't have enough space to offer.

not fussed either way, its always nice to come accross someones patrol report on these boards i personally wouldnt go out of my way to another forum just to see a patrol report. dont get me wrong they are good to read but not high enough on the scale of importance for me to warrant another place for em to be posted

Could we not just use the U-Boat Stories Sticky? If everyone just edited their first post with updates of their patrol it will keep the thread in order.

Yes. While I like reading them, for organization's sake they should be gathered into another forum.

If I may add my two cents;
When I used to browse the simtropolis (sim city 4) forum they have a Journal section. Somewhat similar to how the mission designers forum is seprate from the rest of the forum here. It helped keep the entire forum organized.
Consider what threads would be kept out of the regular SHIII section considering the high volume of traffic it currently receives.
As others have mentioned we're talking about lots of images, which means bandwidth. While that in itself has nothing to do with this idea, the players posting mega (unreduced) images - bmp's or png's instead of jpg's take some of the enjoyment out of it for the people on dial-up or any reduced connection speed.
Then you have people wondering what software to use. Myself I like psp 7, it's an older version but a snap to use and I'm no artist. I'd bet alot of people who have Office don't know or use MS Office picture manager, quite easy to use as well. Whatever..
I thought of setting up yet another server and do up an ongoing deal for a journal of sorts, maybe some thumbnails or some jazz. I have these credits from my hosting service I don't use. I mean what are we talking about, taking screens can be fun to share. But would I do that here in the main SHIII forum? Nope. It would just get burried.

I thought at first I would like to see one, but realized if there was a separate forum I would probably never go there. I have too little time to read everything as it is.

I voted "Doesn't Matter".

One of the reasons I like using photobucket is that it'll auto-convert .bmp to .jpg. As well, it has the ability to choose what size upload you want. For patrol posts, for instance, you could select the smaller sizes (like web/email) which would both conserve bandwidth as well as make it easier for the dial-up members.
