Default Periscope in TGW1.1a

I noticed, when using the periscope (F3), I am able to move the periscope through the various degrees at the same rate as in SH3, but when I zoom it (tab) and try to turn it is is very sluggish and slow in moving. Is this a bug?

Hi robj250 I don't think it's a bug it does same thing to me. If i remember rite you hold down ctrl and use arrow keys. I'd still check with more knowledgable simmers tho. Hope this helps.

ps I also have c.o.p.d Hang in there Skipper

I think it's just a slow down due to frame rate issues since you're asking for more details. I've noticed the same thing on my PC. Though actually, mine's been dogging recently, I almost can't play from the bridge anymore due to frame rate lag. (ATI x850 too!)

Probably due to the zoom being 10x in TGW1.1a, the vanilla is 6x if I memory serves me right.

No, stock game has max zoom 10x.
It is realized in command_xx.cfg section 70.
[Cmd70]
Name=Cam_zoom_in
Ctxt=1
Key0=0x05,cR,"CTRL M.wheel"

None of the above names a zoom level, at least as far as I can read. Load up the stock version and look at the zoom levels listed right on the switch:

Obs scope: x1, x4

Attack scope: x1.5, x6

The first time someone did a mod for x10 there was a lot of talk about it, so it was a big change.

You are not right!!! Read through all that I have written above.
In stock game there is an opportunity of a zoom up to 10x!!!
I have thought up and realized it (look above) more one year ago.
Keeping key Ctrl you rotate a wheel of the mouse!!!

Hey kylania I have the same card as you ATI Saphire X850. I have great frame rates in port is th eonly slow down i get an then it is still at about 35 too 45. But out at sea it is around 180 most of the time. Though i still have a slow down when i go to the X10 periscope view but it does not bother me at all really.

If you have to go into the files and change it it's not part of the stock game, Mr. Smarty-pants. It's now a mod.:p

But I think you knew that and I'm being silly.

Yea there is a slowdown, but its not due to FPS getting lower with whatever zoom you have with your install. I fx. have downsized the zoom in my GWX to 1,5 and 6 for the attack and 1 and 4 for the obs. while leaving the binocular at GWX default. UZO is at x7.

IMO the slowdown (or better explained as slower rotational movement) is due to the usual necessity of finetuning the scope while zoomed in. Then if you need to swing the scope around, say 120 deg, you zoom out and rotate, then zoom in and fine tune.

To me this does not look like a bug.
