Default Russia loses another submarine (Pics too)

Russian warrior lost to the sea

One of Russia’s front line submarines of the Hotel class has sunk 100km off the coast of Norway.
The submarine was heading to The Mediterranean Sea to conduct a routine extended training patrol.

Some time during the early hours of yesterday morning the Finnish ferry Finnjett received a distress call from the submarine, the ferry was doing one of her twice yearly cruises along the coast of Norway and was some five hours away when she received the call.

The ferry raced to the scene followed by the Norwegian tug Vestkysten who was servicing Norwegian off shore oil rigs at the time.
For over four hours Delegates in Oslo and Moscow debated whether the Norwegian tug should be allowed to tow the stricken submarine or if they were to wait for a Russian vessel.

With the out come looking grim, and that the submarine was drifting closer and closer to Norwegian waters Moscow allowed the Norwegian tug to take tow and head back out to sea, and away from Norwegian waters.

Sources from the BBC and Steeds Friend Oberon there have been reports that the crew have been ordered to scuttle the ship should any attempt be made to board her.

Unfortunately just after lunch time yesterday the submarine took a sharp list in the heavy weather and never regained her stability, the Norwegian tug came along side the submarine and off loaded some of her crew before the submarine rolled over and sank.

Reports have indicated that there are only fifteen survivors, which means one hundred and ten men have died.

Moscow have refused to comment on the situation, making on the brash statement “its only one we have plenty more”

Officials from the U.S navy and the Royal Navy have stated that the submarine involved in the incident is K-19, a submarine that is notorious for having accidents.

The surviving crew have been put onboard the Finnish Ferry Finnjett to make the journey to Tromso where they will be handed over to the Russian authorities.

Oslo tonight have stated that they have a big concern about the environmental damage this submarine can do to the rich fishing waters of the north sea, plans are being made between Moscow, Oslo and also Smitt Mamoet to raise the sunken vessel a project that is likely to go into the tens of millions of dollars.
