Default Change of Pace

I'm looking for something new, now that I have GWX, and since I can't decide on how to start, I'm putting it out there:

What year and what flotilla should I try starting with next?

Keep in mind that I will not start in Lorient or Kiel. I just hate those ports....seriously....

It all depends on what you want. Happy Times (39-42)where you are blasting the crap out of everything with impunity or 1943 onward were you are seriously hunted and spend each patrol in utter anquish and dispair. Me, I start around 1940 so I can use the IXB.

I know you hate Lorient but that is where I start . It is an easy port to get out of and a good spot for the shipping lanes. See what others post as well!!

Depends on what kind of career game you want. Short, mediem , or long range?

Start in January of '42 with a Type IX and make your way to the American coast. The U-boat Kaleuns called this time: "The Great American Turkey Shoot"

Good times, good times.

Again, I was hoping someone would give me a Year and a Flotilla (provided the flotilla is not based in Kiel or Lorient).

Are you opposed to to those ports cause they're murder to get out of? I was, then I adjusted the Time Compression settings for being near land. Now I'm ok with ports like Kiel and St. Nazaire and so on.
I'd say 2nd Flotilla, 1942. Gives you access to the IX and you can go after those annoying American vessels, who thus far have been netural!

Again, what kind of game are you looking for? I mean, i could for instance just tell you, 12th flotilla out of Bordeux, 1943. You end up in an IXD2, with long range patrols in the south atlantic, when that might not be your cup of tea. When you may have prefered short to medium range patrols in the north atlantic with a maybe a diversion to attack convoys bound for russia, and maybe sea a few iceburgs along the way, in which case you might want the 11th flotilla out of Bergen in mid 42.

What you want to do as alot of bearing on year and flotilla

I started in Salamis to have a go at the Med campaign in GWX. So far I like it very much. The Med colours give a very refreshing athmosphere after weeks in the Atlantic December storms and fog...

Wilhelmshaven, September 1939, Flot: Saltzwedel. You can start with a Type VIIB
