8800GTX and SH3

I built a new rig and got the 8800GTX vid card. All I can say is it is great in BF2. I can run 1600x1200 with aa at 8xQA and af at 16 x and get 60-100 fps in heavy action.
However, SH3 hardly plays at all. I am lucky to get 45 fps with aa and af off. The video quality is very bad too. I had an agp 850xtPE and would get 50 all the time with aa at 8 and af at 8. I am guessing the drivers don't support this game, which are 97.44 drivers, or the game needs a patch to work with these new cards. I am really disapointed that this high end card cant play SH3.I guess I will have to play SH3 on my old rig until this issue gets worked out.

45 FPS is going to be more than you can see. It won't be any more stuttery than the 50 that you got with your Radeon. Make sure everything is set right in the CP. Make sure your old drivers were wiped. 97.52 is the newest Forceware driver. Download it from www.guru3d.com.

Do that stuff and post back if it helps or not.

Just a thought, correct me if I'm wrong....

BF2 uses OpenGL
SH3 uses DirectX

Is it possible your drivers are out of date for DX? (I know it's a new build)

p.s I have something for you........

The card is so new and there is only one driver out for it right now and that is the 97.44. It is specifically for the 8800 series cards. The problem though, in game, is that the fps will drop to 15 sometimes and that is with hardly anything going on in game. That makes it darn near unplayable. Pl;us the graphics are jaggy as heck no matter what I set aa and af at.
I have done a bunch of research and there are numerous other games out right now that are having issues with these cards. Nvidia will have to get some better drivers released for these Great cards. All I can say is in BF2 it is like watching a movie when I play now....Unbelievable....Just wish I had that same enjoyment with SH3 GWX

Hey Dan, thanks and you can send it to me via pm or email it to me if you like. thanks a bunch too....

Hey Hey,

I am back in the hunt. After messing around with some configurations I am back in and running like a banshe! at 1600x1200 with aa@8xqa and af@16xqa I am running a consistant 80fps. When in a harbor in heavy action I will drop to about 55 fps. Man what a performing card....Wow does the game look great at these settings. Is like watching a movie and being in it at the same time...WOW
