Default Help needed pls.

Does anyone have an idea, roundabout, what the depth could be in the
coordinates 53º37'N, 38º15'W.

The interests has to do with D/S Montbretia that was torpedoed on 18.11.1942.
My grandmothers brother,Quartermaster Einar Meier Larsen was one of 47 men that died. It was U-262 that sunk her. (Heinz Franke).
I even got in contact with Franke personally in 1994 thru WASt,Berlin,Germany.
He died in 2003.
I also interviewed a survivor from Montbretia in 1994,very interesting indeed. Unfortenately he died shortly after. By the way,I work together with his son today.
Gee,ironicly I have Franke as my avatar........:hmm:

Godt å se enda en Nordmann her!!
I think someone asked a similar question, about a place in the mediterranean!
I'll look for the thread, and post the link. They found out that "dangerous waters" (the game) had very good depth indications and was usable for finding this out..!

Try looking here, mate:

And welcome to Subsim!

Ja, rolig om natta, vet du!
i dont know if the depths shown in SHIII is accurate, so i dont think you could go there with your sub and measure yourself...To bad, really, they should have made accurate depths in SHIII..

Heh Heh, Dangerous Waters to the rescue again! 53 37N 38 15W shows a depth of approx 9,700 feet. This location is in open ocean East of Newfoundland and South of Greenland, in fact not awfully far from where the Titanic sank. (Titanic lies in nearly 13,000 feet.)
SH3 charts may also be reasonably accurate with regards to depths, trouble is the charts dont use anything other than colour coding for the various depths, no numbers. The Uboat has a depthsounder which goes to 1000 meters, and its possible the maps also dont bother portraying anything over 1000 meters either.

Regards
