general election game

im trying to run a game i had on windows 98 and when i install it its ok until i run it and i get a box up saying error 5004 you do not have rights to acess file or some gibberish like that.What does that mean?

so far windows xp has been totally useless running games i had no trouble with on win 98 im even thinking of going back to it for my next machine.
i cant even run sh2 on this crap machine and its supposed to be better than the old one.

I got SH2 on my XP and there has been no problems. :hmm:

Try running the program in the compatibility mode. To do this right click on the program exe file select properties and click on the compatibility tab, then click on the check box and select the proper operating system.

thanks ill have a go,man i tell ya im getting utterly frustrated with xp i wish i didnt have to bother with all this.The games may be of a lesser quality but at least with something like a ps2 or xbox you just wack in the disc and away you go.
