Question about Rank

Im new to the forum and i'm going to buy SH3 very soon, i still play SH1 sometimes. Anyways my question is about the rank you have when you start your
career? I looked at the SH3 community manual and it gives the German Navy Ranks and it doesnt tell you what rank you start at. Im guessing that you start out as an Officer but i dont think they would allow a Sub LT to captain a U-Boat? So does anyone know the answer to my question?

First off welcome to the forum.

To answer your question you start out a career as a Leutnant zur See, which is the equivilent to a USN Ensign.

EDIT: Well a rough equivilent, it's more like a Lt. Jg. in practice but it's the same as an Ensign on official US to German conversion tables.
