Default Individual engine control?

My biggest pet peeve with SH3 was the fact that I didnt have individual control of my 2 engines. Anyone heard if this is supposed to be fixed in SH4, so that either engine can be operated individually?

This would be a nice feature.

A.Negative, for now we're not going to allow that. We recognize this is an interesting option, but it's always a matter of priorities and we believe there are more important areas of the game that warrant improvement.
Apperantly seperate engine control will not be included.

What a bummer - I really had looked forward to a boat that could be totally controlled by the simmer.

That and the dive planes, too.

Ah, well.

Having control of the dive planes added in was one of the things I disliked about Projeckt Messerwetzer for SHII. How would the captain control the planes? Run back and forth between the two wheels? It makes it too much like a flight sim.

Well, that's gonna make running silent more difficult, as an old US sub trick was to run on one screw only, even though it reduced speed to between 1/4 to 1/2 knot.

And then with the boats that had 4 diesels, there are a few different configurations for surface running. Really helps when you need to conserve fuel.

Doing bow planes, dive bubble, etc. manually would be a bit of a pain in the arse, and not a captain's job if you ask me. The same with individual engine lineups and prop commands.

But having said that it'd be nice to have them as orders you could give to the respective departments.
