I have two SH3 instals, one has my existing career and the other is new today in readiness for GWX. I have checked the new instal and there are no previous careers etc.
I have one instal of SH3 Commander. I use the "1" key to point SH3 commander to the different SH3 instals. The GWZ manual indicates I will need two individual instals of SH3 Commander as there are specific GWX files to be downloaded to SH3 Commader, however must only be copied to Commander if you are playing GWX. My questions (at last) : I have tried 2 instals of Commander, one in program files and the other in C drive. I used the "1" key process one one shortcut to point to the new (in readiness for GWX ) instal, but when firing up the GWX instal via commander, the game loaded is my original instal with my existing career. I dont underrstand why both instals of SH3 commander are picking up my initial instal with my career. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Thanks Raknal |

Did you use MultiSH3 to create two separate SH3 folders with different names in My Documents ?
If you have only one SH3 folder in My Documents (where careers are saved) I think may be you are launching the new install but it is pointing to the same SH3 folder ? Just an idea... ![]()

The way to do multiple installation is simple
1. Install a clean version of SH3 in the C\Program Files\Ubisoft\SH3 2. Patch it to 1.4b 3. Copy the whole folder and paste it whenever you want the new installation to be. After that rename it to whatever you like. Let's say GWX. 4. Now put the multiSH3 into the GWX folder and run it. When asked put GWX as the default directory where your careers will be saved. 5. After all this install GWX in the GWX folder, make a shortcut to the desctop and you're ready to play. 6. Now you can install the SH3Cmd 2.7 7. After the installation is complete you right-click onto the desktop icon. You click on properties and where it say target you type "C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander\SH3Cmdr.exe" /l:"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX. Now this is the example of my SH3Cmd that will check the files in the My Documents\GWX folder that is generated by the C\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX installation. After that this particular installation of SH3Cmd is linked to that installation of SH (GWX in this case). I would suggest you do a different installation of SH3Cmd for each different installation of SH you have. That way you don't get the SH3Cmd confused and you don't mess up things. Also I would suggest to leave the clean patched version of SH3 in the C\Program Files\Ubisoft\SH3 untouched as that way you can always copy it and paste it to add new mods. If you want to make new installations always copy and paste this folder and DO NOT USE the Installer of SH3 again (at least not for as long as the game is already installed)

It's a utility program created for this purpose. I think you can find it for download at Uboat-realsimulation or maybe here at Subsim in the download section.

I keep getting when trying to launch Cmdr, "cannot find "sh3 exe" in this folder ! Please tell me where Silent Hunter III is installed". But when I try to show it the path, it don't show the exe . then when I close it, I get a pop up saying "SH3 Commander requires Silent Hunter III to be installed on your computer. Unfortunately, an installation ofSilent Hunter III cannot be found. You will need to determin where Silent Hunter III is installed, and run SH3 Commander again"
I copied another Stock installation I have in My Documents named 4th Flotilla, to another folder in My Documents called Ubisoft/War Ace Campaign 2.0. I can run the SH3 exe fine, and the game works, but can't get SH3 Cmdr to run it, and I have copied Cmdr to My documents also. Also the new save folder named WAC, was successful also. I am totally lost. Help. I want this for when UBWA 2.0 is ready today. |

I too am having the same problem Tuddley. SHIII Comdr can't find the right SHIII. It picks up the original I renamed Silent Hunter 3-Vanilla
I'm thinking of reinstalling SHIII to program files. Not to be confused with Program Files. I've done this before and it keeps things separate from each other. Put everything into that folder and see what happens. As soon as I get it done and try it out I'll let you know what happens.

Tuddley, just found the problem.
Make sure you name the SHIII folder in My Documents to the same name as your original game. Mine was SH3 and I added -Vanilla to it. Now the new install of Commander for GWX to run SHIII can't find that one which is good. You must run your 2nd install once in order for Cmndr to find it. Do the Aaval Accademy Training and you should be ok to go. After that you'll have another SH3 folder to rename to what you name your second install. I'm slow with all this but learning. ![]()

Use a separate SH3Commander installation for each SH3 game install and after installation (Commander) rename the desktop shortcui to the SH3 install it's supposed to 'fire up' ie:SH3 Commander GW...SH3 Commander HT 1.47 etc.

Good Goobely-Goo!
It took me a good 90 minutes to get multiple copies of SH3 Commander to work correctly ![]() In the end I needed to use MultiSH3, re-label my SH3 Directories, and run each install once. I also needed to uninstall my existing copy of SH3 Commander and reinstall. Once I received the windoiw which asked "where is the SH3 *.exe" I was all set. It seems that the path was "hard coded" until I did all of the above. Phew... I'm just glad it works. Now I have a NYGM, GWX, and a Vanilla install to tool around with. JOY! ![]()
