Default GWX freeze ups..........

Well I started with a clean install patched to 1.4.....downloaded the files into one folder and executed .....however ............I am seeing an unusually long time on boot up.....and the game stutters in port.....and freezes on me at other times for no apparent reason.....not good for the enjoyment factor so far.......Anyone else having similar problems.....

Disable any unrequired background tasks as well to make the most of the CPU and memory. I have found that especialy effective. I also have something called 'Memturbo 4', it's a payware, for the full version with all the cache tweaks etc. But there is an evaluaition version. If you don't already have it that is.
One other thing which has helped a lot, in ports and also in the midst of large convoys with smoke and searchlights all over which adds load to the agp and processor, is to disable the 'adaptive anti-aliasing' in my Omega game profile settings. I still have everything else turned up full, AA - x6, AF-16x, high quality on the texture preference and mipmap etc. My system, Asrock mb, Sempron 3000+, ATI 9800 pro (Omega drivers), SATA HDD, 1.50 Gb memory.

I also use FS Autostart which disables all background programs and services you don't need and defrags memory before launching the game.
It's freeware and very useful. Also think to defrag disk once a week and remove unnecessary files from system/registry ( I use CC Cleaner )

I am running a 2ghz processor and have 1gb Ram....An ATI 1300 video card with 256mb....I am also experiencing a long boot up period when loading a saved career....almost four minutes...seems excessive to me....

How kind of hdd do you have? SATA or ATA?

It makes a big difference. I have a 300gig w/ 16mb cache.
The load times are very fast.

I second the 16mb cache option on newer HDD's. I run a SATA 240 or 260 gb with the 16mb cache and load times are probably twice as fast as they used to be.

The 16mb cache HDD was 7$ more than the comparable 8mb one. It was worth that 7$.

my gwx was running very very slow when:
1. external camera pointed on the crew
2. i went to the deck to have a look around
3. i play from inside the boat with all the bernards in view

so i took my old crew-tgas´ from my backup and copied them over the high-res gwx uniforms. well, it increased the speed a lot!
i was not able to look around me because the game was stuttering a lot. now its running fast!
maybe this should help all who got problems with the speed.

Great

Perhaps replacing more textures could help a lot, like sea botom and others...:hmm: and only stay with the more important things in the game like campaign, damage models and some eye candy things.

A lot of hig res perhaps push to the limit computers that could run well with stock and other mods

Look inside your case and look for your hdd. ATA is a flat ribbon cable and gray in colour.

The SATA cable is thinner and red in colour, but not always.

I hope this helps you.
